The Maze

Story

In this game you wake up and find yourself stuck in the maze and you don't know how long you've been there. Your task is to figure out how to get out of that maze and explore the maze through its complicated paths to find the exit. Along the way you find unique room that have keys that you can obtain. What doors they lock is for you to find out or be forever lost in the maze.

Self-reflection

In the two weeks of starting and learning bitsy it was fun and interesting while also hard during some points. It was a very smooth and simple start as I didn't need to know anything with coding and could start form the get go. As I continued using it some ideas I wanted couldn't work with the engine and I would have to compromise and make work arounds. But I was mostly able to try out different things with the assistance of youtube videos if I had an idea but no starting point. For the most part I enjoyed this two week venture of learning and making this game. 

Features used in game

  • Sprite interactions was a major component in the game as I used it to give the player instructions or heads up on what the gimmick of the room was up ahead or what to expect.
  • Another major this used was the doors especially the one way exits and double exit doors I have a lot of different use cases such as typical transitions but also used it as a way to do a quiz format in the game.
  • A feature that I used with the player was the inventory check. For some sprites they would say certain things if the player had the items or not and for the doors was the lock mechanic and checking in the players inventory whether they had the correct key.
